Rare Books of Tajikistan Go Digital with ElarScan

03/14/2025

In Tajikistan, the digitization of ancient books and rare editions without electronic versions has begun. For this purpose, advanced equipment was delivered to the Ganj Nashriyet printing house — the ElarScan A2-600R book scanner, produced by A-B-C PRODUCTIONS, ensuring gentle and high-quality scanning.

The new scanner was handed over to volunteers to create digital copies of valuable historical books, which will later be uploaded to the Ganj printing house website and other public access platforms, significantly expanding readership and preserving unique editions for future generations.

"Using the ElarScan A2-600R will enable the rapid creation of digital copies and their publication on various electronic platforms in Tajikistan. This is an important step in preserving cultural heritage and facilitating access to knowledge" noted Hasanov Sukhrob Rustamovich, manager of Sinon LLC.

The choice of this equipment is due to its ease of use, high-speed operation, and careful handling of original materials. ElarScan scanners have proven to be a reliable solution for archives, libraries, and educational institutions interested in digitizing collections. The ElarScan A2-600R is equipped with a transformable cradle for scanning bound originals with full and partial opening. Interchangeable flat and V-shaped glass plates allow for page alignment in both flat and V-mode scanning (with a partial opening of 120 degrees). The manual glass lifting mechanism controls the pressure force for delicate work with damaged, fragile, and valuable originals.

Thanks to the new equipment, the digitization process will become not only more efficient but also safer, even for time-worn rare books, and access to rare editions will reach a new level.
