ElarScan A1-800KS scanner presented at the VNU - Library and Digital Knowledge Center, Vietnam
The high-resolution large format planetary ElarScan A1-800KS scanner has been presented at the Library and Digital Knowledge Center of Vietnam National University (VNU-LIC, Hanoi). The new model enables high-detail contactless digitization of historical archives, museum artifacts, and rare antique books - supporting the preservation, research, and creation of digital collections of culture heritage.
VNU - Library and Digital Knowledge Center (VNU-LIC, https://lic.vnu.edu.vn/) is one of South-East Asia leading library and digital knowledge hub. Its consistently has achieved high rankings in the Webometrics Ranking Web of Repositories and other international ranking. The Library and Digital Knowledge Center also actively adopts cutting-edge digital technologies and playing a key role in developing e-resources, implementing digitization solutions, and enhancing academic infrastructure. The success of the VNU-LIC institutional repository has significantly contributed to accelerating the development of Vietnam National University, Hanoi, particularly by improving its Ranking Web of University indicators and affirming VNU's position on the global education map.
The presentation for the VNU-LIC Board of Directors was done by Mr. Tung, deputy head of the technical department at VIETDATA I&T JSC (https://mdata.com.vn/) - the official representative and service center for ElarScan in Vietnam www.elarscan.com. The professional system for planetary scanning of documents ElarScan A1-800KS features a motorized deep cradle capable of handling originals up to 30 cm in thickness and weighing up to 50 kg. Its integrated flip-up glass gently flattens pages up to DIN A1 size. Equipped with a high-resolution camera and an adjustable suspension system, the scanner delivers optical resolution ranging from 400 to 1000 dpi, and supports the UltraHQ mode (400 MP), ensuring image quality compliant with international standards including ISO 19264-1, FADGI, and Metamorfoze.
The ElarScan FreeFrame technology allows capturing up to 20 individual files in a single scan, significantly increasing productivity. The built-in Anti-Glare function effectively eliminates reflections when digitizing glossy or reflective originals. When used with an optional support table, the scanner can accommodate source materials up to DIN A0 format.
